(Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)Ohio State’s season came crashing down on Saturday. The Buckeyes were blown out by unranked Purdue, losing 49-20 in West Lafayette. While the Buckeyes aren’t eliminated from the College Football Playoff, their margin for error is razor thin. Ohio State has to win out and win the Big Ten title game to have a shot at cracking the four-team field. As you might imagine, many OSU fans are frustrated. Some are calling for the dismissal of associate head coach/defensive coordinator Greg Schiano.Schiano’s defense has come under fire this season, because the unit has struggled with allowing chunk plays even in wins. Last night was the culmination of those struggles, as the Buckeyes allowed over 600 yards of total offense.Greg Schiano’s defense also made a ton of mental errors in this game. He’s not a popular guy in Columbus right now.Ohio State has a bye week to work on its problems before returning to action against Nebraska on Nov. 3. The Buckeyes still have a pair of huge games on the schedule against Michigan and Michigan State. If they can’t get their defense in gear, it could be a rough finish.
