In our opinion architecture is not neutral, it takes a clear position. She moves, surprises and is beautiful. In the creation of good architecture, the role of the client is not to be underestimated. They have to choose the right architect for the realization of their dream. A client that has utter confidence in their architect, as was the case, allows us to push the project further than the direct materialization of the design brief. A critical dialogue between client and architect is an ideal breeding ground for a beautiful project.Save this picture!© Frederik VercruysseThe volume of the house is partially pushed in the natural slope of the terrain resulting in a facade that is limited in height. The addition of a long horizontal window (fenêtre en longeur) between ground and first floor gives the house a certain lightness as it seems to almost float above its base. As a result, the house stands modestly against the backdrop of the landscape.Save this picture!© Frederik VercruysseThus half buried in the natural slope of the terrain, the day zone program is situated on the garden floor, the night zone program and entrance on the street side. The resulting volume is a direct translation of the program.Save this picture!© Frederik VercruysseThe closed nature of the exterior of the house is a nice contrast to the openness of the interior plan. The patio on the street side and the fully glazed rear facade ensue a maximum of natural daylight and create a view on the outside space from every room in the house.Save this picture!PlantaCharmed by its surroundings (Kesselse bergen), the house tries to merge itself in it. Since black in a natural setting seemed less intrusive, it was chosen as the main color for the exterior. The location of the entrance is a result of all sorts of design and organizational decisions regarding the program and the site. Its position leads to a house that gradually reveals itself to the visitor. The further he descends, the more it unfolds. The circulation was one of the starting points for the design of the house. As the house is very compact program wise, the circulation areas are designed to be more than merely functional. The stairs are positioned next to a glass wall that reflects the transparency of the outer shell. The upstairs hallway contains all the bedroom cabinets, the skylights provide natural light. All circulation on the ground floor is situated adjacent to the patio and flow naturally in the surrounding spaces.Project gallerySee allShow lessWill Developers Demolish the David Wright House Today?ArticlesBacardi Complex / Frank GehryArticles Share Year: 2010 “COPY” CopyAbout this officeI.S.M.ArchitectenOfficeFollowProductsGlassSteelConcrete#TagsProjectsBuilt ProjectsSelected ProjectsResidential ArchitectureHousesHeverleeHousesBelgiumPublished on October 04, 2012Cite: “Hard Werken / I.S.M.Architecten” 04 Oct 2012. Pasadena’s ‘626 Day’ Aims to Celebrate City, Boost Local Economy Make a comment latest #1 Pasadena Police Helicopter Crew Use Night Vision Equipment, Coordinate Daring Night Rescue of Lost Father and Son Published on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 | 9:42 pm 4 recommended0 commentsShareShareTweetSharePin it Subscribe The crew of a Pasadena police helicopter equipped with night vision technology played a pivotal role in the rescue of a lost father and son late Friday night high in the foothills of Monrovia. On November 25th, Pasadena Police Pilot Corporal Polimeni and his Tactical Flight Officer (TFO) Myles were called to the City of Monrovia to assist with the search for two lost mountain bikers, a man and his 7-year-old son.The two had started out in the Mt Baldy area earlier that day and had become lost in the mountainous terrain for over 13 hours.Given the nighttime condition, flying into this terrain would have been considered too dangerous in the past. However due to the airship’s night vision technology, the crew responded without delay to assist in the search. With limited information, the air crew, Pilot, Cpl. Polimeni and TFO Myles began an exhaustive search starting at the base of the hills in Monrovia. The search continued as Monrovia Police Dispatch attempted to contact the victims by cell phone. Eventually, Pasadena Air Crew spotted the father’s position (heat signature) through the use of night vision goggles and subsequently provided the coordinates for the pair.Given the terrain, the air crew was unable to land but instead directed in the LA County Search and Rescue team to their position.“Our Pilot Cpl. Polimeni and TFO Myles, once again, underscore the value of the Pasadena Helicopter Program. I am grateful for this tremendous resource and, equally important the talented staff members who keep our birds airborne,” said Police Chief Phillip Sanchez.
