She was part of the support system and I feel connected to that. I always feel that in an athlete’s life the wife and family sacrifice a lot of their own dreams to support the vision of the athlete, the goals that they set and they end up sacrificing their own career. I have seen it in my own family. My mother had been supportive to my father in his career. I think to see the human side, to see what an important role family play in success of athlete I took up this role,” she said.advertisementThe film 83 essays Kapil’s captaincy in leading the Indian cricket team to defeat the West Indies in the World Cup final in 1983. The film is directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Reliance Entertainment.Talking to the daily, Deepika also opened up on her role in Chhapaak. There was a connection between her grit and determination and human spirit. I have chosen it in the same way as I would have chosen any other film.”Deepika got deeply engrossed in her character Malti in Chhapaak. In an earlier interview with Mumbai Mirror, Meghna revealed all that went for Deepika to prepare for the role of Malti in the film. She said, “There is Malti, and then there is Deepika who became Malti. Malti’s presence on screen reflects the expression in Deepika’s eyes and on her face which comes through the prosthetics. For me, Malti is Deepika and Deepika is Malti.”It took months for Meghna to decide on Deepika’s look in the film, she was working on it since September. “I didn’t want people to watch this film with their eyes shut, the idea was not to create Laxmi’s face on Deepika but something that would be Deepika’s face had it been scarred the way Laxmi’s was.”Also Read | Deepika Padukone on playing Ranveer Singh’s wife in 83: This isn’t coming from a personal equationALSO READ | Will Deepika Padukone play Ranveer Singh’s wife in 83?ALSO READ | Kapil Dev on Ranveer Singh’s 83: India was not ready to make sports films 20 years agoALSO READ | 83: Ranveer Singh to live with Kapil Dev in Delhi for 10 daysALSO WATCH | Ranveer Singh makes Delhi dance to Gully Boy at India Today Conclave 2019last_img
